STRIDER CAMP PARENT INFORMATION

Parents,

We are excited about our first ever Team running camp! We have a lot in store this up coming week for our campers, and as well want to give you an update on camp.

I (Coach Alford) will have a group of HS students and alumni who will be assigned to go to both (JH & Intermediate) and walk over the students from their campus. Int. students will have a few things planned out before camp begins to help with the time gap from Jh and intermediate getting out from school. All participants will be given a snack at camp and be monitored all camp with numerous former and current runners helping out.

For this first camp, runners will not need to have a conditioning background as we have chosen to teach and introduce this first camp, and ease all runners into the idea of working out. Second camp will be a lot more focused on conditioning. We look forward to all those choosing to come join us next week! And our hope is to help teach not only things about CC, but athletics in general. As we will be focusing on….Nutrition, Stretching, core, hydration, and how to encourage your teammates.

Below is the tentative agenda for the camp:

Monday  May 15th

-FRUIT SNACKS, GRANOLA BARS, & WATER FOR THIS DAY!

4:00-4:15 WELCOME!!! – coach alford

-WELCOME STUDENTS

-INTRODUCE MYSELF

-EXPLAIN CAMP

-EACH WORKER INTRODUCES THEMSELVES

-EXPLAIN OUTLINE FOR CAMP

-LEADERS  (AVERY, REESE, ZACH, KEV, AVERY)

 

4:15-4:45 – SPEAKER (COACH KOESTLER, LETU)                     HELPER: KEVRON & REESE & DESTINY

-TOPIC WILL BE RUNNING FORM, RUNNING, ATHLETICS

-IMPORTANCE OF GOOD RUNNING FORM

-SHOW PROPER

-ALLOW A SMALL WARM UP (WHY WARM UP IS IMPORTANT)

-HELP TEACH TO KIDS

 

4:45-5:30 WORKOUT!!! (FARTLEK AND USING PROPER RUNNING FORM)

    • (1 MIN HARD / 1 MIN EASY) X 5
    • 3 MIN REST AND RE EXPLAIN

5:30-6:00 FUN ACTIVITY (PHOTO SCAVENGER HUNT)

  • GET IN THEIR GROUPS AND WORKERS DIVIDE OUT INTO GROUPS AS WELL.
  • EXPLAIN ACTIVITY

 

6:00- BREAK OUT AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
