PINE TREE “KATY RANCH” MEET RECAP

2016 SEASON

http://my.finish.com/form.php?race_name=PineTree2016

THANK YOU  TOO ALL THE AMAZING PARENTS AND SUPPORTERS FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT AND HELP SATURDAY AND EVERYDAY!! WE COULDN’T DO IT WITHOUT ANY OF YOU!

This past Saturday the Boys team lined up 12 deep, to face many of the leading runners in the East Texas. Coming off from a year ago, SH had one runner who was constantly in the top ten at this meet, alum Kase White. And with many running this meet for the first time the outlook was unsure of how they would finish, or even compete against runners far more advanced than them. Yet, day after day these young men have worked hard AS A TEAM, pushing the pace for everyone at practice, from bottom to top. They have become master jokesters, proven to look like the oddest team there is, yet have become the toughest and strongest family of runners in the area, and it showed! Nobody, except for Spring Hill, knew the young men who would line up Saturday would run away with the title, and 40 points ahead of the second place team. And running without their senior Captain, Reese Phillips, who is working to rehab himself from a leg injury in time for district (our secret weapon now J ). This meet was a proving ground run, the course changed after the first race due to bee’s, leading the meet organizers to reroute the course to a much more challenging route and postponing the meet to be run later in the day, in the sun and heat! And it is my pleasure to tell everyone just how amazing this group of runners are, they not only work hard to get better, but they lead by example for their younger teammates. Because right after they finished their own race, they turned around and coached up the Junior High runners, who like the High school, work as team and leave no man behind. They fight together at practice, encourage everyone no matter the age, and battle as one against anyone standing in Spring Hills way of being number one! Congrats JH boys on your second place finish (against all divisions 6A-1A, losing only to a private school, well that is for now…   #runthepack                     #roadtostate2016&beyond

Girls ran a fantastic race from HS to JH, the course was much tougher than previous years, and the heat was a battle in itself. And just like the guys, these young women are champions and work hard day in and day out, many of these runners, took this course for the first time and have learned that Cross Country isn’t for the weak. Missing a few girls on both sides of the teams, they joined together to give it their all. Finishing respectively in both divisions!
