JH TROUP RECAP

TROUP JUNIOR HIGH MEET RECAP-

TROUP- Monday the Junior High tracksters’ traveled to Troup to compete in the Tiger Junior High meet. This meet was different than most, seeing it followed spring break. Yet, despite the break many competitors took to self-discipline, coming to optional workouts throughout the break, running on their own, and were seen up at the track the Sunday before the meet fine tuning things. And it showed. As all four teams appeared to dominate the meet, allowing both the 7th and 8th grade boys to earn once again the Meet title, and the 7th and 8th grade girl’s teams to leave with 2nd place. This is coming off of the prior 2015 season, where team titles were few, and filling teams became a struggle. However, a new spark has been lit within the JH programs where hard work, dedication, and teamwork has become the driving factors as these young  athletes continue to excel and raise the bar.

7th / 8th Girls Highlight was in the mile relay as Samantha Schott ran the anchor leg, coming from behind to win the 4×400 relay by .03 seconds!! And Maz Morton striding her way to victory in the 2400 meter run, leading the entire field by 100 meters. Tai Reid ended the evening scoring in all 5 events she competed it, including 3 gold medals. For the 8th graders this meets highlights went to the sprints where Ashley Blakee & Maddison Vaughn cruised their multiple top 6 places in the 100, 200 and in their sprint relays. WAY TO GO GIRLS!!

7th/ & 8th Boys Highlight- There is no other way to describe the boys performances, except teamwork! In each event SH scored in nearly each event, and in many went 1, 2, & 3. Including Pole Vault, 2400 meter run, 1600 meter run, and 300H. But ending the meet was the spectacular performance by the 8th grade boys’ mile relay team….running splits 57, 57.5, 58, & 60 for a combined score of 3:53.72.
