MEET RECAP- LEAR PARK AND GILMER JH MEET

Lear Park-

Friday September 11th the over 30 SH CC runners & motivators headed to the Hallsville CC Meet, held at Lear Park to compete against over 1,000 other determined runners. The meet attracted teams from all over, pulling in most of East Texas’ best runners from all divisions. Starting off the races was the Varsity Boys, running in the open 5k against much larger (5&6A schools). Leading the Spring Hill team was senior Kase White, crossing the finish line 2nd out of a field of 150 runners. The boys team continued their move upward in the ranks, as each runner improved, ending the day ahead of other schools within our district. At the conclusion of the Varsity boys, our JV boys entered their race, competing in a much higher level of completion against other Varsity runners in (1A-4A varsity division). With 235 varsity runners lining up at the start the SH JV team didn’t back down. Young at heart and in CC experience these young men raced their hearts out. Crossing first for the JV boys in 58th place was freshmen Carson McNabb. Followed closely by teammates: Ethan Pimental, Braden Herman, Peyton White, and Judah Bulgiran. And then former Biker, now turned runner junior Kert Key laced up his running shoes to take on the course himself in his first CC debut for the 2015 season.

The girls were up next, still with a young squad led by freshmen Kinsey Smith. In the girls race there were 216 runners all destined for the 1st place spot. Coming across the line first for the Lady Panthers was Smith in 20th place. Ending out the day was the JV girls race, were not only did our SH runners take the course, but some of the hardworking soccer girls joined forces. These girls have been training since early August for a season that doesn’t begin until another few months, but by the looks of them…id say they are ready for anything. An athlete competes, no matter the sport, they always look for opportunities to better themselves and their teammates. And by watching the girls JV race, SH has been blessed with not only great athletes, but amazing teammates and pride.

The lear park meet was a success. Spring Hill CC continues to get better, strengthen in numbers and confidence, and develop an energy that is contagious. Spring Hill CC is here to Leave their MARK! WAY TO GO…

GILMER-

And so it begins. Saturday the Junior High CC team attended their first race of the season at Gilmer Elementary hosted by Gilmer CC. For many they have been practicing since June with high schoolers, watching siblings run the routes, and waiting for today. All the practice was finally put into action as the lady panther team consisting of 16 runners lined up at the start. Three returning from last year, but for the rest it was their first. Leading off it was 7th grader Samantha Schott who paced her way to 2nd for the half way point, followed by 8th grade teammate Marissa Seyer. The pair along with their other teammates attacked the course along with over 100 other Junior High girls to run the best two miles possible. And as each crossed the finish line it is safe to say that each and every runner gave it their all.

The boys race was up second, led by returning 8th graders Austin Martin and Mason Hancock the team raced as a unit, pushing each other to give their best stride for stride. Coming into the meet, the boys team was reminded of last year’s disappointing end…great runners, but no team. And they were ready for the challenge to BE THE TEAM. And with remarkable races by new 7th grade runners such as Marshall Bodeimer, Brian Vaca, Carson and Brody Barnhill, Saul Torres, and Caleb Hutcheson, the boys TEAM ended the meet with a 2nd place finish, finishing only second to Hallsville by a few points. Great Job JH runners!! Results will be posted soon as they are up!! And times as well.
